Ex-Boston Postoffice Clerk Served 40 Years

Lexington, Jan 21 - Albert Francis Ritchie, a retired veteran Boston Postoffice clerk, died today in his home, 87 North Hancock st. North Lexington. He fell from a ladder while in his garage yesterday, fracturing his skull. Mr. Ritchie was both in Boston on Nov 12, 1853, and attended school in East Boston. After taking up several lines of work he entered the employ of the Boston Postoffice serving 40 years. He retired two yeas ago last August.

He was a member of the Howard Lodge. I.O.O.F. of Bunker Hill Encampment. I.O.O.F. in Charlestown; of Arcadia Lodge. K. Of O.. in Somerville. and the Somerville Lodge of Elks. He also belonged to the Men's Club of the First Parish Unitarian Church and to the Men's Club of the Hancock Congregational Church, both in Lexington.

Mr. Ritchie lived in Somerville for 28 years prior to moving to North Lexington two years ago. Surviving relatives are his wife, who was Miss Eunice McLoud of Charlestown; two daughters Mrs. Charles W. Ellis of Somerville and Mrs. Ralph H. Elvedt of North Lexington, and a grandchild.

The funeral will be held Tuesday. There will be prayers at 11:30 a.m. in his home and services will follow in the chapel at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, at 2:30p.m.
