He was born Frank Pierce Gibson on 9 September 1852[1];
the son of Nehemiah and Lucy H. (Paine) Gibson. He married
Carrie L. Varney on 9 June 1874 in East Boston.[2]
They had one child:
(1) Nehemiah Charles Gibson was born in 19 January
1878.
He lived with his father - Nehemiah - from his birth
until at least 1875 [See
Residences]. According to the 1880 U.S. Census[3]
- Charles, Carrie and Nehemiah Charles (their son) lived in East Boston
not too far from his father.
Charles worked for his father's company the N. Gibson
& Company.
In November of 1865 - Nehemiah Gibson bought the U.S.S.
Pembina from the U.S. Government and renamed it
The Charles E. Gibson.
Charles and Carrie went their separate ways around 1885/6.
Carrie stayed at their house on Haynes Street but moved back to her
ancestral home in Tamworth NH around 1890/1. [see
Residences]
Charles later married Mary Jane Frothingham (married
name) around 1894/5. They did not appear to have any children. For
a while Charles lived with Mary Jane in Manhattan as they are listed
there in the 1900 and 1910 U.S. Census [4].
Charles Earl died of Tuberculosis on 15 April 1913 and
was buried at Mount
Auburn Cemetery on 18 April 1913. He is located on Nightingale
Path in Lot 4539.[5]
Mary Jane Gibson died on 6 September 1919 in Roxbury,
Mass. and she is also buried in Lot 4539 at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
Carrie L. (Varney) Gibson died in Tamworth on 5
September 1946 at
the age of 93 and is buried in Chocorua Cemetery in Tamworth, NH. along
with her sister, brother and parents.
